Welcome to English 10 Blogging Project
Mr. Tombasco and I will continue using blogger.com for our classroom blogs; this is the same site you will use next year in English 11. As this is the third year of our blogging project, many of you should have gmail accounts already established. If not, please follow the instructions below on how to create one.
Writing for our blog requires you to follow the same guidelines used in any other formal classroom writing. You will be graded on the content, form, spelling, and mechanics of your writing; please be aware of the following guidelines and refer to your “Taboo List” if you have questions. The easiest way to obtain a good grade is to write your blog response in MS Word, use the spell check and word count functions and then copy and paste your response in the comment section of the blog. We will help you get started.
1. Only post things that you would want everyone (in school, at home, etc.) to see.
2. Do not share personal information that would let someone outside of school find you. While this is a moderated and restricted blog, we want to ensure that you remain safe.
3. Think before you post; what could be the consequences of your post?
4. Know who you're communicating with; who will be reading this and how will they interpret what you've written?
5. Anytime you use information, media, photos, etc. from another site, be sure to properly cite the creator of the original work.
6. Use appropriate language and spelling. YOU GUYS ALL KNOW IT MAKES ME CRAZY TO SEE THINGS LIKE "HOW R U?" Treat every posting as if it will be graded for spelling and grammar.
7. Only post information you know is true; NO GOSSIP!
Responding to others' blogs:
1. Be constructive not destructive. WE'RE BIG ON RESPECT IN HERE!
2. Make sure your response is always related to the blog you're commenting on.
3. Include, when you can, a personal comment or suggestion that will allow others to join a “conversation”. It’s great when many members of the class begin to write to each other in the blog.
4. A simple, “Good job!” is not enough to receive a grade for your peer response. Generally we will post suggestions for response in the posting of the topic; please be aware of these to receive the maximum grade.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A GOOGLE (GMAIL) ACCOUNT:
1. Go to google.com
2. Click on the gmail link.
3. Click on Create an Account
4. Go through the steps to create an account. You will need to come up with a user name and password and provide them with an alternate email address too. We will not have access to your passwords or your gmail accounts; only to the content you post on the blog.

WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT:
1.Please send me an email (4162.anita@gmail.com) and I will invite you to join the blog.2. Respond to the first assignment posted on the blog. You respond to the blog by hitting the “comment” button at the end of the assignment. Please do not create a new comment; that messes things up for everyone and will delay your grade. Please come talk with either Mr. T. or me if you have any questions.
We look forward to reading you online!
Mrs. Lucia and Mr. Tombasco
If I was ever deserted on an island I would take a knife, DSR50 sniper, and a bag pack. The knife can be used to gut the animals and make traps out of wood and dried vines. Also with the knife I need to make latter for a tree stand so I can use my DRS50 sniper rifle. My sniper rifle should be very handy so I can take down animals from very long distances. Every time I kill an animal I will put the bullets on the piece of vine for ever many animals I kill. My bag pack would be for whatever I think I need to keep from the animals I kill and supplies I find on the island. From the skills I learn when I was im military boot camp should help me find a way to survive on the island. If there are no animals on the island I would eat all of the bugs that I can find for some protein. Yes I would go crazy but in the end I new how to survive on an island and that’s all that matters to me. An hope someone will find my body so I can at least be remembered.
ReplyDeleteIf I were stuck on a deserted island in the ocean and could only bring three items, I honestly have no clue what I would bring to survive or make me feel more comfortable. There are many things I would want to bring so it is hard to narrow it down to three.
ReplyDeleteI think I would want some tools to make shelters, to get food, to just survive. I would want to be able to make fire. I honestly don’t think I would want to bring another person with me. Yes you would probably lose your mind all alone but you wouldn’t have to worry about them and their health. You would only really need to worry about yourself and your survival. Some people would probably want a picture or two of the people they left behind, but I would prefer I didn’t see the people I missed. I wouldn’t want the things that would make me lose my mind and miss my friends and family. Well besides my stuffed elephant that is. I REALLY LOVE ELEPHANTS
I guess I would choose my stuffed elephant. Maybe I would choose to bring my machete. I would also want to have an item I can reuse for a while to start a fire. In the novel Lord of the Flies they used a pair of glasses I wouldn’t want to use glasses because they might not last that long. But I think and strong magnifying glass would help me start fires to survive quite well. My machete could be used for multiple things like killing an animal. Sharpening a spear, cutting items to make shelter or anything else needed to really stay safe. Of course my stuffed elephant would be used as a thing to talk to and cuddle with. It would be different to be so completely alone like that, but at least I would have something to help comfort me.
I am really unsure about what I would want to bring. This is a hard decision for me. If I did ever get stuck on an island I wouldn’t want to choose items. I would feel more content trying to survive with whatever I was left with.
If I were one the island I would have a lot of food. I would have a lot of food because I love food. I would also have a bathing suit. I would have a bathing suit so that when it is very hot out I can go swimming and have a good time. Also so when Im swimming I don't have to think that being stuck on the island is such a bad thing. Being able to go out and do my own things and have a good time. I would also have warm clothes. I would have warm clothes so when it got cold out I would not freeze to death. I would not worry about being cold. I would not have to worry about having stuff to build a shelter with because I could just use the things around me. I would use things like wood and leaves to build my home. I could also use the wood to build a fire so I have another way to keep warm. Being on the island might not be as bad as I thought it would be. I would find things to protect myself with so that I can defend myself and have something to hunt with just in case I get low on food that I brought with me. Building the home may be difficult to do but I could find a way to make it work.
ReplyDeleteIf I was ever stuck on a deserted island the three things that I would have with me would be a magnifying glass, a gun, and my friend Tiarrra. I would have a magnifying glass with me to start a fire in order to keep warm and to use as light at night. This would help keep animals/predators away from me. I could also use it to cook my food. I would have a gun with me to hunt for animals so that I would have food to survive. I would then have my friend Tiarra with me because she has three things with her to be saved from the island, we would work together with all the stuff that we have with us to be rescued from the island and to survive while we are stuck there. I would be able to get the food and start a fire and she would be able to let other people know that we are stuck and we need help. We would be stuck on the island for a while and with her trying to get a hold of somebody to come save us then we wouldn’t have to be stuck there as long as we really think we would be.
